We think you should see
what you're being charged.
Bordera moves money from the United States to India and the Philippines. That's it — two corridors, done properly, before we do anything else.
We started because of a question none of us could answer well: why does sending money home cost so much?
The answer turned out not to be fees. Fees are the visible part, and they're usually small. Most of the cost is in the exchange rate — the gap between the real mid-market rate and the rate you're offered. On a $1,000 transfer that gap is routinely $15 to $40. It doesn't appear on your receipt. It isn't labelled anywhere. For most people it's invisible for years.
That struck us as the actual problem. Not speed, not app design — the fact that an entire industry had normalised a price you can't see.
What we do differently
We show you the mid-market rate.
Next to ours, before you send, every time. Including when the comparison doesn't flatter us — because a comparison you can only trust when it's favourable isn't a comparison.
We hold your rate for six hours.
Rates move all day. Yours doesn't, once you've been quoted. Confirm the details with your family and come back — the number you were shown is the number you get.
We tell you what's happening.
If a transfer pauses for verification, you get a reason, not a spinner. Compliance checks are part of moving money safely; being kept in the dark about them isn't.
We publish what we know.
Guides on the 2026 remittance tax, on comparing providers, on checking whether a service is legitimate — including how to check us. All free, none of it behind a signup.
Who we're for
Families supporting parents. Students sending what they can and receiving what they need. H-1B professionals and healthcare workers sending a fixed amount on a fixed day. NRIs managing obligations across two countries. Filipino-American nurses and caregivers sending a padala that has to arrive when it was promised.
What these people have in common isn't a demographic. It's that this isn't a transaction for them. It's a responsibility, and it repeats every month.
How Bordera is structured
Bordera is a technology platform. Payment services are provided by regulated financial partners and licensed financial institutions, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
In practice that means we build the product you use, and the money moves through partners licensed to move it. We're specific about this because vagueness on the point is common in our industry, and you deserve to know exactly who is holding your money.
Transfer fees may vary depending on the corridor, payment method, banking partner and applicable processing requirements. You'll always see the full cost before you confirm.
What's next
More corridors, and a business product. Both when they're ready rather than when they'd be convenient to announce.
If you send money to India or the Philippines and something about it frustrates you, tell us. It's the most useful thing anyone sends us.
